Study team

The core study team members (see below) have extensive experience with and/or have been a collaborator in developing ecological assessment methods (e.g., Habitat Evaluation Procedure (HEP), Hydrogeomorphic Approach (HGM), Index of Biological Integrity (IBI)).

The development of the Compendium is viewed as a collaborative effort that welcomes input from organizations not directly represented in the Team. This is an enormous task that can only been done in a spirit cooperation and we are very pleased at the response and support. We would like to acknowledge several individuals who, even in the preliminary stages, offered to share information and/or provide guidance (see list below).

Team members:

Dr. Candy Bartoldus, George Mason University (expertise: wetland assessment methods and wetland ecology)

Ms. Joanna A. Cornell, George Mason University (expertise: biological assessments, volunteer stream monitoring programs)

Dr. Adrian Farmer, US Geological Survey (expertise: modeling wildlife habitat relationships; principal author of the USFWS Habitat Evaluation Procedure (HEP))

Dr. Bill Jackson, National Park Service (expertise: hydrology, instream fluvial processes, watershed management)

Dr. Chris Jones, George Mason University (expertise: stream ecology, limnology, and water quality studies; bioassessment; effects of watershed urbanization)

Dr. Bruce Pruitt, Nutter & Associates, Inc. (expertise: watershed hydrology, fluvial geomorphology, aquatic biomonitoring, and stream/wetland assessment methods)

Mr. Gary Smillie, National Park Service (expertise: surface water hydrology, erosion and sedimentation, open channel hydraulics)

Mr. Eric Somerville, Nutter & Associates, Inc. (expertise: stream/wetland function assessment methods)

Dr. Eric Stein, Southern California Coastal Water Research Project (expertise: landscape ecology, watershed analysis and planning, water quality, and ecological assessment methods)
