Dear Mr. Scheer;
Thank you for your generous donation of the use of two single
rider golf carts for our second annual G.O.A.L.L.S Adaptive
Golf Challenge and clinic, and for sponsoring both breakfast
and lunch for our teams. We had 33 players with disabilities
join 32 teams on April 3rd, 2006.
We had many different mobility issues to meet at our challenge
and though the use of your carts we were able to open up
the world of golf to two different players, one with spina
bifida and one with a neuro-muscular disorder.
The most rewarding part of the challenge was seeing the
effect it had on some of the players. Joey B. played
golf for the first time in this tournament. He had
come out a couple of times to hit on the range, but in other
cars could never get his legs adjusted right to make good
contact with the ball. I put him in your cart for the
tournament and it made all the difference in the world! He
was able to move his legs out of the way and still feel secure
enough to take a full swing. You have a short video
of Joey on your web site. But even better than that
is that he got to play golf with his father and his brother
for the first time ever! What a great feeling to no
longer be left behind.
Again, thank you for your generosity and your innovative
cart and for making a real difference for people with disabilities.
Sincerely

Regardless of course conditions, the Atlas from E-Car
Corporation has solved my dilemma of enjoying a round
of golf with my friends...
After
umpiring a baseball game between the then California Angels
and Texas Rangers, I joined some friends for dinner at
my favorite Dallas restaurant. As we were finishing dinner,
an employee of the restaurant yelled out that two women
were being beaten and mugged outside the restaurant. My
friends and I went to the aid of these two women. As we
were attempting to help them I was shot and suffered a
serious wound to my spinal cord at the hands of four muggers,
toting a .32 caliber pistol. The injury left me paralyzed
below my waist. There was no movement and no feeling
to my lower extremities. Doctors informed me and my wife
of five months, that I would NEVER walk again.
After
several years, which included long daily hours of physical
therapy, I have regained the ability to walk with a leg
brace and a cane. During all those torturous hours of therapy,
my one goal, other than returning to my profession as a
Major League Baseball Umpire, was to once again
enjoy my passion, golf. Obviously, I would not
be able to play without the use of a cart. But
on days after a normal rain had fallen on my home course,
carts were not permitted off the paths (as I’m sure
it is at most golf clubs). I would watch my friends tee
off and walk the course (which is physically impossible
for me to do). Or, they would ride, solely along cart paths
(which taxes my body to the point of unbearable pain when
going from cart to ball and back to cart.) Without the
use of a cart I can’t play golf.
Not
anymore!! Regardless of course conditions, The Atlas from
E-Car Corporation has solved my dilemma of enjoying a round
of golf with my friends. The
Atlas' weight does not do damage to a golf course fairway,
whether it is dry or wet. Believe me!!!!
I
recently played as an amateur in The Bayer Advantage Classic,
a PGA Champions Tour event. It is a Pro-Am event that was
played June 6-12 in Overland Park, Kansas, my home town. Thirteen
inches of rain fell in 11 days leading up to and during
the tournament. You talk about lift, clean, and
place!!!! The Atlas got me everywhere I needed
to go to be close to my ball. A Tour official
informed me that I could go anywhere I desired. I parked
next to tee boxes and close to greens. The Atlas never
created damage or impressions in any of the soggy areas
where I had driven or parked. These were extreme conditions.
On an every day basis, the
Atlas, a one golfer cart, is truly a remarkable innovation
that allows an able or disabled golfer to enter areas that
a conventional two person cart cannot. I
can honestly say the Atlas has lifted my enjoyment of golf
to another level. It has given me a sense of fulfillment,
to once again compete with my friends and appreciate a
day outdoors, playing golf. Thank you so very much for
allowing me to once again enjoy my passion.
